The Great Point Trip : Part 3

June 6th, 2008

You may notice this comic looks strangely uncoloured. This is true. I’ve got another wedding this weekend, so the colouring will come later. I didn’t want to let anyone down by posting a few days later, so if you’re jonesing for a comic, here it is.

The inevitable conclusion of our epic, 3-comic tale. Alright, so I realize it isn’t that epic, I’m new with this give me a break. I’m starting to get into a comic-creation mode that I’m comfortable with, but I still can’t really get things coloured accurately. If you create a live paint group in illustrator, it removes all brush effects. If you colour in photoshop, you get the result like last week, which really isn’t cool. If you downsize a huge vector image in a program other than illustrator it just looks ugly and the text is unreadable. I don’t know, maybe I’ll give painter a try!

Also, avoid the Bourne conspiracy game. I enjoyed the movies, popcorn fare that they were. This game has nothing but frustration, in every aspect of it. And I’m just talking about the demo. Try it our yourself, see what you think. I was annoyed enough that I didn’t even finish the demo, and that says something. The controls are awkward in shooting and punching, the camera is a mess (seriously, hasn’t anyone figured out how to do a 3rd person camera aside from nintendo?) the hand to hand combat is an excercise in frustration, there are random “hit this button in 1 second or die” events thrown in and the only time you get to do any cool moves is when your “adrenalin meter” is full enough that you “hit b” to do a “move”. They look like moves Bourne would do (in the movies) but all you do is hit a single button and he flips out and does something crazy. Also, the shooting and cover is… just not fun. Also the characters faces look like someone poured acid on them, and they haven’t gotten around to getting reconstructive surgery.

But getting back to the whole “plot” angle. This game is supposedly not based on the movies, but kind of is. The name of the game has the authors name in it, but it really isn’t based on the books either. Some of the voice actors are back from the movie, but the only one that really counts isn’t. Maybe they couldn’t get him so they decided to pretend it was based on the books? I don’t know, just don’t waste $60 on it.
