The New Ghetto?

March 7th, 2008

This comic is based on the article and discussion from THIS slashdot thread. Yes, I read slashdot and yes I’m a massive geek.  If you couldn’t already tell from the fact that I write and draw a webcomic.  That really should’ve been your first clue.

Anyways, I’m pretty darn sick of video games getting a bad rap from… I don’t know, EVERYONE.  Point 1 - a game that is rated M is Mature.  These games are not for children and should not be played by children.  The incredible outcry about violence and sexual content in video games that are made for adults, while R rated movies are ignored, is utterly absurd. It’s as easy for a kid to see an R movie as it is to play an M game.  If you’re really that concerned about things, educate the parents and the kids.  Regulating what kind of games can be played is utter nonsense.  I a movie is an artform, then why aren’t videogames?  They have teams of artists, orchestral scores, huge budgets…. Because you hold a controller and interact it’s less valuable or valid than a movie? Give me a break.

I understand where the guy is coming from, but say comics are in some kind of ghetto, with video games right behind… is just stupid.
